Unlearn the name for the body part you thought you knew and find out the differences between your Vulva and Vagina!
The Vagina
The word ‘Vagina’ is what we usually say when we’re referring to our genitalia, and it is often paired up with the penis as its equivalent.
But, the Vagina is actually the muscular canal that connects the uterus to the vulva. It’s what babies pass through during childbirth, as well as menstrual flow.

The Vulva
So, the ‘Vulva’ is actually the correct term for all of the external bits, including the mons pubis (pubic mound), the labia majora and minora, the all-important clitoris, the external openings of the urethra (the pee hole) and the vagina.

Why Does It Matter?
When you describe the ‘Vulva’ as the ‘Vagina’ you’re describing your sexual organs by the part that gives heterosexual men the most pleasure.
If we’re talking about the pleasure equivalent – for most vulvas its the clitoris.
Most vulvas need clitoral stimulation in order to orgasm, and many of those in heterosexual relationships say they aren’t getting enough of it during intercourse.
Embracing the incorrect terminology may play at least some role in that.
On top of this, knowing the correct names for our genitalia helps us make sense of how we feel in our bodies.
Also, how do you explain and express yourself to your partners or healthcare providers?
Read a sad reason to why knowing the name of your body parts is SO important.

Is The G-Spot Real?
The G-Spot isn’t a specific gland, a body part or a magic button. It is actually a place on the anterior wall where the clitoris meets the urethral sponge and skene glands - which can feel really good!
This is why some of us can have orgasms through penetration (as it hits the clit) and why some of us can squirt - diagram above.
